#Thornhill - A New Project

We are starting a new project up in Thornhill which is a suburb just outside of Toronto. We're actually doing a lot of work outside the city at the moment. The house was recently renovated from top to bottom and is GORGEOUS. I hope to share some pictures soon so you can see the beauty that we are working with.

We are diving into the living room first and foremost. The client loves the idea of a tufted chesterfield in white.  I know that they are probably thinking a pair of sofas and some chairs but the room actually could handle a more interesting layout than that. More on that later.

Here are some of the images I'm using to start to pull together my ideas.

A lot of white. The client does not like clutter but has a big family so we need to allow for a lot of seating BUT the space can't feel too busy. Texture will be the key.

Lots of goodies are appealing to me. The foyer is massive. Like it's my entire main floor massive. I love the idea of a big ottoman or a table with ottomans under it. Options. Spare but elegant.

Now my floor plan in the living room is going to need some chairs. I don't want too much matching even though the layout does lend itself to a symmetrical space plan. Mixing and matching chair styles will help to create variety and interest in the space without making it feel overly busy or contrived. Modern mixed with new traditional should do the trick nicely.

The walls are PERFECT for artwork. However, the client is partial to the blank walls. This happens after a renovation all the time. Heck, it took me 7 years in my current house to hang the first piece of art. I know other clients who are sitting with bare walls as we speak because they can't quite commit.
