Not every space in a home is designed to be seen — but at MHD, we believe every square inch should feel considered, elevated, and ready to delight. In this edition of Meredith’s Edit, we’re taking you inside the Casita Kitchen, Pantry, Laundry, Bunk Rooms, and the Principal Bath — where everyday function meets unapologetic luxury.
What most would hide, we celebrated. In a room with 18-foot ceilings, restraint wasn’t the answer — boldness was. The custom brass hood doesn’t compete with the lake view; it frames it. It draws your eye upward, grounding the scale of the room while anchoring it in luxury. This is what it means to design with confidence.
A true working pantry should make entertaining effortless. Behind the upholstered swing doors lies a full prep station: a secondary dishwasher, coffee bar, refrigeration, and space for every necessity (yes, even the air fryer). Function is beautiful when it’s designed to be hidden in plain sight — and this pantry is proof.
At MHD, we refuse to accept ‘good enough’ in any room. The laundry was given the same attention as the kitchen — quartzite counters that reference local history, brass fittings that glow against custom cabinetry, and storage that eliminates clutter before it begins. Because chores deserve to feel indulgent too.
Guests shouldn’t feel like an afterthought either. Two bunk rooms, two approaches — both equally elevated. Built-in bunks maximize sleeping capacity while luxe bedding, rich textures, and bold palettes transform them into suites worthy of a boutique hotel. Comfort, flexibility, and design — seamlessly blended.
The difference between ordinary and extraordinary lies in the details. By customizing every drawer to fit around plumbing, we ensured no space was wasted. The result? Storage that feels effortless and intentional, layered with statement fixtures and finishes. This bath isn’t just a retreat — it’s a masterclass in how functionality and luxury coexist.
Design at this level never happens by accident. Every decision — from custom bunks that turn guest rooms into suites, to quartzite counters that nod to local history — was made with intention. It’s about creating a home where beauty and function are inseparable, and where every space feels worthy of attention. For this family, the Casita isn’t just a getaway; it’s a reflection of how they want to live at the lake — fully, comfortably, and surrounded by design that elevates the everyday.
If you found yourself inspired by this Edit, we’d love to hear your favourite detail. And when you’re ready to transform your own home into a place designed with the same care, let’s begin the conversation.
